Three fire crews from Penwortham, Bamber Bridge and Tarleton were called to the incident in Marsh Lane at around 3.40am.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze in the wooden building at the rear of the detached house and were at the scene for around 90 minutes.
A fire brigade spokesman said an investigation into the cause of the blaze was due to take place this morning.
