A headstone in the Muslim section of Scotforth Cemetery has been vandalised after being spray-painted with a Star of David.

The incident is believed to have taken place overnight on Thursday, December 18.

Officers confirmed the gravestone was targeted in the Muslim section of the cemetery and said the report is being treated “incredibly seriously.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We’ve included an image of the headstone so that people can see the extent of the damage caused.

“We are taking this report incredibly seriously, and any hate crime will not be tolerated in Lancashire.
