It is being reported that Mr Miliband is due to speak to Labour party staff shortly before speaking in public in central London at noon.

Mr Miliband, who has represented the Doncaster North constituency since 2005, got 20,708 votes, increasing his majority by 871.

But his party suffered heavy losses at the hands of the SNP, with the Conservatives forecast to achieve a Commons majority.
