A TEENAGER is fighting for his life after a motorbike crash left him in critical condition.

Callum Evans, 19, from Lostock Hall, has been on a life-support machine for two weeks in Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital following a collision between his bike and a car on Glazebrook Lane, Culcheth, near Warrington.

The trainee accountant’s family say it has been a “horrific” time but say Callum is “holding his own.”

And his mum Elizabeth Allan says Callum’s condition is improving but admits she’s still taking it day by day.

Keen biker Callum, who went to Lostock Hall Academy in Preston, was trapped under a car and had to be cut free by firefighters.

He was taken to hospital by Air Ambulance and remains in a critical condition.

Elizabeth said: “He’s getting there but it’s going slowly. His lungs are badly damaged so a lot of the treatment is around those. He’s also on dialysis but he’s hanging on in there. We’re still quite hopeful for him.”

And as they patiently wait for his condition to improve, his family have joined forces with Callum’s friends to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) which took him from the incident to hospital.

Elizabeth said: “We’re hoping to raise more money for the Air Ambulance because without their help, Callum might not be here.”

His grandma, Audrey Allan, also from Lostock Hall, said: “We wanted to raise money for the Air Ambulance because they lifted him from the road and to hospital. There was also a HGV driver at the scene who jacked up the car to help Callum so we’re trying to find him to thank him. He’s holding his own and our fingers are crossed.”

Friends and fellow bikers turned out at Rivington Hall Barn, south-east of Chorley, last weekend to take part in a sponsored ride to Manchester to raise money for charity NWAA. So far £660 has been raised.
