More snow on way, for Lancashire, warn forecasters

Motorists have been warned to prepare for more snow across Lancashire tonight and tomorrow morning.

Rush hour drivers were caught by surprise today as several inches of snow fell in many areas.

The A56 south of Burnley was closed for a time this morning after a severe snowstorm.

Now motorists have been given a “yellow” warning of snow​ for tonight into tomorrow.​

​The Met Office said an area of rain, sleet and snow will come south-eastwards into the area later on Thursday lasting into Friday morning, possibly as late as 10am.

Drivers should be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport.

​The warning applies to ​Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Halton, Lancashire, Merseyside, Warrington.
