The money will be used to support for tenants or other people interested who wish to take up beekeeping on its land.

The grant will help cover the cost off the equipment required to begin keeping bees as well as to cover the cost of training courses delivered by the network of Local Beekeeping Associations and the British Beekeeping Association.

The cost of a hive will also be included as well as as well as the first swarm of bees which will used to begin honey production.

The Duchy of Lancaster, which is held in trust for the reigning monarch, covers ancient rights to farm land around the country including estates between Preston and Lancaster, including areas in the Forest of Bowland.
