Man's body found in Skelmersdale remains unidentified prompting search for his next of kin

A man who was found dead in a wooded area in Skelmersdale remains unidentified.

Police and ambulance crews were called to reports of a sudden death in woodland close to Thornbury at around 5pm on Monday (July 18).

The man’s body was found in an area known locally as The Tawd.

Officers said his death was not being treated as suspicious but officers wanted to trace his next of kin as he had not yet been formally identified.

The man is described as white, aged between 55 and 65, with short, grey hair.

He was wearing a black Hugo Boss T-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and black Adidas Trainers.

The man, who was wearing a wedding ring, was also in possession of a black baseball cap and a pair of black sunglasses.

He was also carrying a half-drunk bottle of Hardys Bin 161 white wine which police believed he may have bought on Monday.
