Man wanted after '˜shocking' racial abuse incident

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to after a shopkeeper was racially abused and had his car vandalised in Preston.

Officers were called at around 6.30pm on 21 April following reports of a vehicle crime in Waldon Street.

Police attended and found a silver Toyota Corolla with its front tyres slashed.

The owner of the vehicle, a 37-year-old shopkeeper, reported a man had earlier entered his store in Waldon Street and racially abused him before leaving.

A short time later, the store owner left the shop and found two tyres had been damaged.

The offender is described as white, of heavy build, with short dark brown hair.

PC Emma Devereux, of Preston Police said: “This was a particularly shocking incident and we are keen to find the person responsible.

“We believe the same offender entered the shop and racially abused the shopkeeper before leaving the store and damaging the Toyota.

“We have released an image of the man we would like to speak to in connection with the offence and are appealing for anyone with information to contact us.”
