It is yet to be established how the man came to be in the sea.

He is described as a white man, 40 years of age, wearing a black coloured t-shirt, blue jeans and blue coat with a fur collar.

DI Phil Jones said: “At this time we have no information that would assist us in establishing how or why this man came to be in the sea.

He has sustained a wound to his head and arms that may be as a result of the current of the sea and hitting rocks or other means.

If anyone saw a similarly described man in and around the sea wall area across from Morecambe Town Hall between 6-7am today I would urge them to please contact the police on 101 quoting log 0214.
