Man in green wanted for cigarette theft

Police have appealed for information about a man in distinctive clothing following the theft of £100 of cigarettes from a shop in Leyland.

Officers say they want to speak to the man, who was wearing a bright green hooded top, camouflage pants and white and black gloves.

The appeal follows a raid on the Co-op store in Dunkirk Lane at around 8.20pm on March 3.

The man leaned over the counter and took a plastic bag containing the cigarettes, before walking out of the premises and making off in the direction of the Moss Side Community Centre.

He is described as being of slim build.

Sgt Mark Douglas, of Leyland Police, said: “We are appealing for information after cigarettes were stolen from a shop in Leyland.

“We are keen to trace this man and would ask anyone who recognises him to contact police immediately.”
