M6 standstill as overturned lorry covers four lanes

Traffic is at a standstill on the M6 with an overturned lorry covering all four lanes.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm between junction 31, A59 Preston New Road, and junction 29, M65

The M6 southbound is also moving slower than usual with motorists slowing to look at the accident, according to AA traffic.

Traffic is being diverted off the motorway at junction 29 leading to slow-moving traffic in Preston city centre.

Emergency services are at the scene and North West Motorway Police say specialist recovery equipment is going to be needed to clear the vehicle.
