M6 closed after HGV overturns

Commuters travelling to Leyland and Preston have been affected as traffic is being diverted from junction 25 at Marus Bridge while emergency services deal with the incident, which happened shortly before 8am this morning (Thursday).

A Highways Agency spokesman confirmed that traffic was being diverted through Wigan to junction 26. Drivers are being advised to allow an extra 40 minutes for their journey with tailbacks all the way to junction 23.

Fire crews from Wigan, Leigh and Skelmersdale also attended the scene and freed one man who has been taken to hospital.
