Bosses at a a luxury lodge retreat in Mellor want to make a raft of changes to improve their offering.
A luxury lodge retreat in rural Lancashire could soon be even bigger and better, if plans are passed by council chiefs.
Bosses at top-rated Everything Retreat luxury lodge and wellness site at Pendle View, Primrose Lane, Mellor, are seeking permission to demolish an existing stable block and extend the existing building to provide purpose-built back-of-house accommodation; treatment rooms and yoga studio; an extension of the existing office building; creation of an outdoor swimming pool and associated landscaping.
In a statement to Ribble Valley Borough Council (RVBC) their agent said: “The purpose of the application is to improve the quality, functionality and operational efficiency of the existing facilities. The proposals represent investment in a high-quality rural enterprise, ensuring its long-term viability and continued contribution to the local economy.”
They add that the business has “grown from strength to strength and wishes to improve it’s current offering to guests and improve their daily operations”.
At present, the multi-purpose room has to function as a dining room, meeting room, and yoga studio, requiring staff to fully remove furniture between each activity, which is said to be ‘highly inefficient and laborious’, as well as restrictive for the operation of the business.
The applicant hopes to extend the current building to maintain designated spaces to eat, have a meeting, or exercise. This will prevent having to re-purpose the same space several times throughout the day. Changes will also allow for extra classes to be run, a larger kitchen, storage and housekeeping spcaes, and ability to provide a larger range of treatments.
An outdoor swimming pool would be used exclusively by existing retreat guests, providing prebooked natural water swimming sessions and therapies.
A decision on the plans will be made in coming weeks by RVBC.
