The father-of-three who has nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, organised a party for family and friends at Longridge Golf Club and asked for donations to the charity, rather than presents.
The gesture was in support of his daughter, Teresa Simpson, who will be trekking across Cambodia in November with her friend Barbara Seed.
The pair are celebrating that fact Barbara, 52, has been clear of cancer for 13 years.
Teresa, 60, of Longridge, said: “Dad didn’t want any presents so he asked for donations instead. He wanted to raise the money to put towards our fund-raising.
“It was an amazing day and we raised £1,115 which was an incredible effort.
“I wish to thank all the guests who donated and the staff at Longridge Golf Club as the food and service was outstanding.”
Teresa and Barbara have a target of raising £3,000 each for Breast Cancer Now. Their Cambodia trek will boost this even further.
Teresa added: “When Barbara said she wanted to do something to mark 13 years since she was diagnosed, I suggested this trek in Cambodia.
They have also organised a charity ball at Ferrari’s, a sponsored walk at Lancaster Canal, a pub quiz and afternoon tea at Dog and Partridge Hotel.
