If you've flown to or from Liverpool John Lennon Airport this year, you're officially a history maker
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has hit a major milestone, telling passengers “you’re now officially a history maker”.
The popular airport in Speke was named the second best UK airport in 2025 by Which?, with an overall customer score of 78%.
Now, the airport has revealed 2025 was its biggest ever year for passenger numbers.
Sharing the news in a statement on Tuesday (December 23), a spokesperson for LJLA said: “Today we surpassed the 5.5 million passenger mark for the first time in our 92-year history, overtaking the previous record of 5,484,700 set in 2007.

“Reaching the milestone, which comes just before Christmas, caps off another incredible year at Liverpool John Lennon Airport as we announced more based aircraft, lots of new routes and completed a multi-million-pound upgrade of departures, with new and improved restaurants, bars, retail and the Aspire Executive Lounge.
“We'd like to thank each and every passenger that has made Liverpool John Lennon Airport their airport of choice in 2025, as well as our teams across the airport who have made it all possible through their hard work and dedication.
“If you've flown to or from LJLA this year, you are now officially a history maker, and we hope to see you back travelling through the terminal in 2026.
“We hope everyone has a great festive period and, as always, thank you for choosing to fly Liverpool John Lennon Airport.”
