Little Evelyn wrote and delivered a moving speech on her parents’ wedding day, which groom Matthew Walmsley says was one of the couple’s highlights.

“She said ‘I like the Disney princesses - I like Snow White, Cinderella, Belle and Elsa - but today the most beautiful princess in the world is my mummy,’” he says. “Everyone in the room was emotional.

“Other highlights included a magician we had managed to keep secret from everyone.

“He was called John Holt and he just wandered in during the wedding breakfast and started talking to guests at their tables, and at first people didn’t know who he was. All the guests thought he was fantastic!

“We had Doug Perkins and the Spectaculars perform in the evening who went down very well, along with the dance-off between all the girls and the lads.”

The couple, from Walton-le-Dale, met during a night out in Manchester and bonded over their mutual love of indie music, the Mighty Boosh, and Alan Partridge.

Matthew, a system support officer for Preston Council, proposed to Tracey, who works as an correspondence supervisor for NCO in Preston, during a trip to Manchester in December 2012.

He describes: “I’d booked tickets for us to see the Lion King live show as an early Christmas present for Tracey, and suggested we make a night of it and book a night in the Travel Lodge.

“We got off the tram in Manchester and Tracey was insistent on getting a taxi to the hotel as it was quite a walk, but I kept insisting it wasn’t far so we set off walking.

“As we were walking down Deansgate we stopped outside the Hilton and I turned to Tracey and said we didn’t need a taxi as we were staying at the Hilton instead.

“Tracey didn’t believe me, even when I walked into reception; she only started to believe I’d booked us a room there when the receptionist confirmed it!

“I’d arranged for a bottle of Champagne to be waiting in the room after the show and proposed once we got back to the hotel.”

The pair married at Shaw Hill Golf Club in Chorley, and enjoyed a honeymoon in the Lake District.
