The young cub, whose name means ‘like a king’ has been getting out and about to explore his home, with mum Rachel, in recent weeks.

He was an instant hit with animal lovers when the zoo revealed his May 31 birth in early June.

Now he’s making regular appearances with the rest of the family, although he’s yet to be introduced to dad Wallace.

New footage has been captured on camera, thanks to ‘Troy’ the log-cam, which has been proven lion-proof after several days in the enclosure.

Adam Kenyon, section head of large mammals at Blackpool Zoo, said: “It has been fantastic to see Khari thriving over the summer months and he has been an instant hit with our visitors.

“He has a very cheeky and inquisitive personality and has been thoroughly enjoying exploring the paddock with his mum Rachel by his side. In the coming weeks he will also be fully introduced to his father, Wallace, and we are looking forward to seeing them all together.

“They are a stunning family – they really are the pride of Blackpool!”
