Latest figures show big financial loss for Preston North End

The cash loss before player trading and amortisation was £10.3m, the operating loss taking into consideration depreciation and amortisation of player registrations was £14.3m.

That compared to an operating profit the previous financial year of £2.6m - that profit included the big money sales of Jordan Hugill to West Ham and Greg Cunningham to Cardiff.

The difference this time was there being no significant outgoing transfers.

Only Daryl Horgan's sale to Hibernian and that of Eoin Doyle to Bradford fell in the financial year covered by the latest figures.

Callum Robinson's move to Sheffield United last July for a deal in the region of £8m, will be in next year's figures.

Wages again proved the biggest outlay for North End.

The wage bill was £19.7m - including players and all staff - a rise of almost £4.7m on the last financial year.

In effect. PNE are paying out £143 in wages for every £100 of income.

The figures show that in the 2018/19 financial year, Trevor Hemmings lent North End £6.7m, and since then has lent a further £4.1m.

The interest free debt owed by PNE to Hemmings is now £43m.
