Lancashire police seize cannabis in raid following tip-off from local residents

Officers conducted a warrant at an address on Deighton Avenue, Leyland, where they found a small-size cannabis set-up with a number of plants.

Police in South Ribble said they moved in after receiving intelligence from the local community that cannabis may be in production at the property.

They added that the information was accurate and that it was another excellent result of what can be achieved when communities and police work together.

Sergeant Mark Douglas, of the Leyland Neighbourhood Police Team, said help from members of the public in detecting and dealing with crime was invaluable. He said “We rely on intelligence from people to make the community they live in safer and a drug-free environment.”

He explained that the seizure was from a 10-plant cultivation process. Two offenders were arrested. One was referred to a drug treatment programme, the other was fined £90. Sergeant Douglas added: “We encourage the public to work with us.”
