Lancashire Police seized all alcohol from a store in Preston following an investigation into illegal sales.

Officers attended a business on New Hall Lane on Monday afternoon following concerns regarding illegal alcohol sales at the premises.

The store was searched under Section 180 of the Licensing Act 2003 where it was discovered the store had continued to sell alcohol over the weekend.

This was despite the business being verbal and written warnings to cease alcohol sales and remove it from their displays.

All alcohol was subsequently seized from the premises.

Lancashire Police are now looking at prosecution under the Licensing Act.

Should a conviction be obtained, police will request a deprivation order for the alcohol where it will then be given to appropriate charities.

PC Ste Connolly, from Police Licensing, said: “It is disappointing that the premises opted to ignore our warning, prosecution for Licensing offences is a last resort however due to the circumstances, lesser action is not available to us”
