Lancashire hotel memories come flooding back following closure announcement

People who either worked at the Pines in Chorley, or enjoyed a special occasion there, have reflected on the happy times they had.

The 35-bedroom Pines, on the A6 Preston Road, Clayton-le-Woods, was bought by Chorley-based Primrose Developments last summer.

It is attracting interest from potential buyers, including discount retail stores, pub and hotel companies.

Lots of people have used social media and email to share their memories.

Julia Parkinson said: “My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Pines. It was an amazing day for us and our guests. It was June 24 2006, 10 years this time. It would have been lovely for us to have gone back on this anniversary. I can honestly say I am gutted it is being sold.”

Craig Riding wrote: “I was a chef at the Pines and worked there for four years on and off. It was the place I really learnt my trade as a chef. From banquet dining to fine dining. I really enjoyed my time working there and it would be a shame if it was turned into something else other than what it is now.

Shereen Lee, of Clayton Brook said: “This is very sad. I’m now 44 years old and I started working at the Pines as a silver service waitress just before my 15th birthday. I loved it - was there till I was 19 years old right up till 2 weeks before I had my first daughter Jenna

Elizabeth Aspden said: “ I worked many weddings and cabarets there, it was like going out in to town for a night out but with the atmosphere all under one roof. The staff were amazing, the food is to a standard that is amazing, due to the most talented chefs they have there.”
