Lancashire firefighter hit by motorbike on his way to work

A Lancashire firefighter was taken to intensive care after being in a collision with a motorbike on his way to work.

Justin Johnston, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “One of our firefighters was cycling to station on an incident response yesterday evening and was involved in a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle.

He sustained significant injuries in the collision and he was transported to the Royal Preston Hospital.

He remains on the intensive care unit but this morning hospital staff brought him out of sedation and he is conscious and able to speak.

The motorcyclist involved in the RTC was conveyed to hospital for treatment to his injuries and a Police investigation into the accident is currently underway.

From the outset LFRS liaison officers were assigned to provide constant support for our injured colleague and his family and will continue to do so.”
