LANCASHIRE ENCOUNTER: No Bull! run charges through Preston

The stunt was designed to imitate and question the famous tradition of bull running in Pamplona – but without the bull.

The No Bull! run was a recreation of the popular Spanish tradition with a twist.

Preston-based arts organisation Derelict were the people behind the stunt.

Participants ran a 2.5k journey through the streets, alleys and market places of Preston city centre, encountering pop up performances along the way.

Years ago, the controversial sport Bull Baiting took place on Preston’s Flag Market, until it was banned in 1726.

No Bull! was designed to question cultural traditions.

The run was part of the Lancashire Encounter weekend, which featured a host of other events.

The Encounter also included North by NorthWest, which featured a host of live acts at various venues across the city.

Bands playing included The Sherlocks, Jaguar, and Twisted Wheel.

The Sherlocks tweeted: “We literally can’t wait to come back – you lot love a party!”
