Lancashire-based buy and sell company launches its own app

It has decided to take on Shpock, Gumtree and other peer-2-peer selling apps with the recent launch of its own Android app.

The app, called “Buuy” went live on the Google Play store on November 28.

It is slowly gaining traction with downloads and visits to the main website, www.buuy.app.

Justin Hodnett, CEO and founder along with his friend James Weiss who is the biggest investor, came up with the idea in early 2018 and decided to relaunch the entire company.

Justin said he decided to take as long as it took to get the app right ready for the UK market.

The app is currently only available on the Google Play store for the UK Android market,.The iOS (Apple) version will follow soon behind with a launch date pencilled in for January or February 2019 or sooner.

Once the iOS version is live in the UK, weeks later a global roll out of the app will begin starting in New York and working its way across America and other countries around the world.

Justin has stated that by the end of 2019 the Buuy app will be available in more countries than Uber.

He said: “Adding a new location and currency to the app is quick and easy, and the user doesn’t have to keep updating the app.

“We can launch a new location and currency daily without the user having to re update the app from the app store”

Buuy says there are no plans to allow full transactions to take place on the app

Revenue for the company is made by allowing sellers to “bump” their listings, make listings featured and having an Unlimited Bumps and Features package.
