Visitors will be able to try cuisine from around the world as cooks from Leyland and the surrounding areas whisk up tasters and lunches with Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian and English influences.

A ‘Taste of Leyland’ stall will also be one of the star attractions, as Leyland Market stall holders will combine their produce to come up with a selection of samples and snacks to inspire taste buds.

The Market Ale House will also open its doors to take part in the event from 11am, and is hosting a special cider festival in conjunction with the food fayre.

Prosecco, wine and lager will also be available in the main food court, and those adventurous enough will be able to try some unusual meats from around the globe, including kangaroo, crocodile and buffalo.

There will be plenty to keep children entertained throughout the day too, which runs until 4pm, with face-painting, a magician and balloon model expert.

South Ribble Council, which is supporting the event along with Leyland Market, will run a ‘Love Leyland’ stall offering goodies from some of the town’s most popular independent retailers, and the Leyland Guardian will also be on hand providing copies of the town’s favourite newspaper!

The fayre, which is sponsored by the Play Pad, will also involve a special Children vs Food contest to encourage youngsters to try new tastes, and free cupcake decorating workshops will be held inside the market.

The Mayor of South Ribble, Coun Mary Green, will be arriving at 11.30am to show her support for the traders and to meet members of the public.

All of the businesses on board have achieved four or five stars in the council’s food hygiene ratings system.

Special thanks also go to HSS Hire in Preston and Whittle Jones for helping to make the festival a possibility.
