“I’m so proud of Luca' Hero Lancashire teenager hopes to reunite with woman taken ill on a bus
‘He’s a really caring boy and really wants to know if the lady is okay’
A 14-year-old boy was the hero when he came to the aid of a woman who suffered a series of epileptic seizures on a bus - now he’s keen to track her down to check on her welfare.
Luca Mayland, from Hambleton, was on his way back home on route 5c from a shopping trip in Blackpool when he heard a cry of ‘Oh my God, she’s having a seizure’ from seats in front of him.

The teenager, who has learned first aid as a member of the Army Cadets, stepped forward to see what he could do and alerted the driver to the emergency.
As the bus stopped, Luca joined two fellow passengers in calming the woman. He kept her head still, talked to her and did what else he could as the first seizure passed but was then followed by two more.
An ambulance was called by a fellow passenger and the woman is understood to have been ferried to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Luca and his mum Lia have since tried to check on the woman’s condition by contacting the hospital without success and are keen to find out if she is okay.
“All we know is that she is called Janet,” said Luca. “ She was wearing a bracelet with her first name on and saying she is epileptic.

“I’d really like to know she is all right. It was scary at the time but I just knew I had to do what I could to help.
“I was surprised that there wasn’t first aid kit on the bus and that the driver said he couldn’t call an ambulance himself but would have to ring his depot.
“I’m just glad the lady got the help she needed.”
Mum Lia said: “I’m so proud of Luca. He loves being in the Army Cadets and is really proud of his first aid qualification and is always keen to help when he can.
“He’s a really caring boy and really wants to know if the lady is okay.
“All we have is her first name but if she sees this or someone who knows her does, it would be lovely hear how she is getting on.”
Blackpool Transport said it was in touch with those involved and would respond shortly.
