I care for abandoned dogs but I can’t do It alone and need your help

A struggling Preesall kennel has pledged full transparency as it races to raise urgent funds for repairs and keep its doors open to dogs with nowhere else to go.

A Preesall-based rescue kennel OEH foundation has issued a fresh appeal for support as it faces major repair costs ahead of a staffing change this summer.

Management confirmed that a long-serving team member will leave in August, prompting urgent plans to carry out essential work at the site.

Organisers say significant improvements are needed if the kennels are to continue operating and potentially reopen under a new name.

Supporters have already donated generously with funds spent on immediate welfare and maintenance needs.

Recent costs include £75 to replace broken mesh outside Zeus’ kennel, £110 to vaccinate Minni, £200 towards Bodi’s ongoing care after his move to another rescue and £100 in transport fuel to relocate several dogs safely.

Cleaning and biosecurity measures have also been prioritised with hyperchloride and diesel purchased to properly clean five outdoor sections of the site at £45 per section.

Further costs are still pending, including Bodi’s neutering and Minni’s spay.

The rescue says it is committed to being transparent about where every donation goes and will continue updating supporters.

Kennel owner Danielle Williamson said: “If we can put everything right and help more dogs into homes or other rescues, we aim to save the kennels and reopen under a new name.

“Over the past 3 years we have had over 20 dogs abandoned with us - many we have managed to rehome but there is currently 13 still with us and these are our long stayers.

“We have been offered an amazing gift of 4 of these dogs to go to a much bigger and much higher following rescue who believe they will find the right homes for these 4 dogs - Bodi, Molly, and Minni.

“I would love to raise the funds to afford their vaccinations and spays/neutering costs for this rescue as they have done us a great thing and unbelievable hope for the future for these dogs.

“Also another rescue is going to provide labour to help us renovate and fix many of our broken kennels and repairs that are desperately needed! So we need to raise the funds to buy equipment and supplies for them to complete this which will enable us to help many many more rescues with providing a space space for their dogs till more homes are found.”

They warn that without further backing, dogs such as Hennessy and Alfie could be left with nowhere to go.
