Hundreds turn out to Run Preston
Sunday’s event corresponded with the Lancashire Encounter, with athletes and families flocking to Preston.
Runners took part in 10k and 5k events, as well as a 2k run in Avenham Park.

Hide AdRun Preston was held on the same weekend as the first Lancashire Encounter, aimed at celebrating the city’s creative talents.
Run organiser Steve Ashcroft said 1,028 people completed the 10k, with more than 300 taking part in the 5k and 350 in the 2k.
He described it as “bigger and better” than previous events, and said there was a “brilliant atmosphere”.
Winners of the 10k race were Preston Harriers David Rigby and Helen Clitheroe, who finished the run in 31.58 minutes and 34.59 minutes.

Hide AdSteve said: “It was a really good day, and I hope everybody comes back next year.”
Coun Veronica Afrin, Preston Council’s cabinet member for leisure services, said: “I don’t think we’ve ever had as many runners.
“The whole weekend went very well, there was a brilliant atmosphere.”
