Huge amount raised for much loved family after Clayton-le-Woods fire leaves mum and son in hospital
A GoFund Me for an 11-year-old boy and his mum who both remain in a critical condition after a fire at their family home in Clayton-le-Woods has reached nearly half of its £60k target.
Emergency services were called after a fire broke out at the home on Greenwood at 11.54pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters from Bamber Bridge, Chorley and Penwortham, along with an aerial ladder platform from Preston, attended the incident.

Kim Leighton, 39, and her 11-year-old son remain in a critical condition in hospital following the blaze, with the community rallying round to help the much loved family regain items lost in the fire.
A GoFundMe which was set up by neighbour Mitch Thomas, smashed through its original target of £24k in less than an week and so a new total of £60k was then added with nearly half raised already.
In the appeal, Mitch said the fundraiser was launched on behalf of neighbours living on Greenwood to help the family rebuild their lives and support them through recovery.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “Our thoughts are very much with them and their family as they undergo treatment.”
The cause of the fire, which is not thought to have been started deliberately, is subject to a joint investigation between police and the fire service as enquiries continue.
