HS2 RAIL PLAN PLEDGE: '˜Preston to London in 77 minutes'
The Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) says a number of measures – including a massive redevelopment of the city’s station, creating thousands of jobs – could unlock massive economic potential.
The LEP predicts improved transport links would create an extra 15,000 jobs across the county, generating £685 million a year for Lancashire’s economy.
An ambitious 48-page report, entitled ‘Lancashire – as part of interconnected and productive northern powerhouse’, outlines the LEP’s national, regional and local transport priorities.
Lancashire County Council leader Jennifer Mein said: “This is the most extensive and ambitious transport plan Lancashire has ever put forward.”
