A Chorley day centre that helps people with dementia is getting ready to celebrate the big three zero this week.

Fosterfield Day Centre in Eaves Lane is 30-years-old on Friday – with a special event in place to mark the occasion at the centre.

The event will be a chance to celebrate the specialised support the day service, which is run by Lancashire County Council, has provided for elderly people and people living with dementia since 1988.

Day centre officer at Fosterfield, Laura Orrell, said: “It’s an honour to be in this role and work alongside staff, volunteers and the community, who all make a huge difference to people’s lives.”

There will be a presentation by residents about the service, live music, food and a raffle competition. Proceeds will contribute towards funding activities and facilities for people who use the service.

Laura added: “We’re passionate about building a future for people who use Fosterfield.

“People who come here get involved in all kinds of activities from relaxing and playing bingo, to finding out about new things at presentations by groups ranging from the fire service to local pie firms.”

Anyone wanting to attend the event or find out more about what the centre has to offer should call Laura on 01257 275183 or email laura.orrell@lancashire.gov.uk.
