Guilty verdict for Longridge motorist Jack Gornall who left pal partially paralysed in road crash

A driver who failed to seek medical help for his friend after he was left partly paralysed in a road accident is expected to be sentenced on Thursday.

Jack Gornall, 25, of Gas Street, Longridge, admits careless driving and was convicted of causing serious injury dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice after a trial at Preston Crown Court.

Front passenger David Easom was left with serious spinal injuries after Gornall's Toyota Hilux collided with an Audi on Higher Road in Longridge in May 2017 as he tried to overtake a minibus ferrying people from Longridge Golf Club to Clitheroe.

Gornall fled the scene and took his injured passenger, who could not move his arms and legs, to a deserted Lancashire farm instead of getting medical help and remained there for half an hour before calling his dad, David Gornall.

Mr Easom was then back to David Gornall's home in Longridge, where he was laid out on a bed for hours before help was sought.

He now has to use a wheelchair.
