A casino worker has been found guilty of raping an 18-year-old woman.

Adam Hurley, 21, of Toronto Avenue, Bispham, had been on trial at Preston Crown Court last week.

He denied the sex attack but was found guilty by a 10-2 majority.

The court was told he did not know how to “take no for an answer”.

Members of his family gasped and sobbed in the public gallery as he cried in the dock.

His sentence will be on a date to be arranged.

Det Con Chris Maillot, of Blackpool CID, said: “As in all rape cases, it took the victim enormous courage to come forward and talk to us about it.

“I am delighted that justice has been served and would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the Crown Prosecution Service who did a sterling job.”
