They announced the sad news on their Facebook page yesterday.
Lancashire Police have announced the sad death of one of their former furry colleagues and friend.

Retired German Shepherd dog RPD Zeus crossed over the rainbow bridge aged 15 and a half following a short illness.

He was pivotal in taking down a decoy, but was a softy at heart. “
Announcing the news on their socials, a spokesperson for the Retired Lancashire Police K9s said: “The hardest post a handler will ever write.
“RPD Zeus has crossed rainbow bridge after a short illness at the age of 15 1/2.
“Zeus joined Lancashire Police Dog Unit as an 8 week old puppy back in 2010.
“He graduated with flying colours on his General Purpose course in September 2012 and the following April passed his Tactical Firearms Support Dog (TFSD) course.”

They added: “Watching Zeus take down a decoy was impressive. He launched from such a distance he literally flew through the air.
“He was such a softy until it was time to work.
“His on/off switch was excellent.
“He retired in April 2021 and had five years of retirement at home with his handler and RPD Daisy having welcomed PD Ebony and birthday boy PD Nigel into his pack.
“Goodnight Zeus.”
