Residents living around the site of a former landmark hotel in Clayton-le-Woods are invited to give feedback on plans for a new Lidl and retirement apartments.

The Pines Hotel, which closed down last February, has been earmarked for the new development led by McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder,

The scheme will include retirement living apartments made up of one and two bedrooms, specifically designed to meet the needs of people in later life. Meanwhile the Lidl food store will provide an additional shopping choice and create up to 40 jobs.

Ian Wilkins, regional managing director for McCarthy & Stone North West Region, said: “I would encourage residents who live in the area to attend the exhibition as the proposals are at an early stage and, where possible, we will amend our plans to take on board people’s comments.”

The public exhibition takes place on, Tuesday, February 28 at Clayton Brook Community Church from 3pm-7pm.
