Garstang Youth Councillors unveil new poppy sculpture at community park

Trustees of Kepple Lane Park and the Garstang Youth Council welcomed MP Ben Wallace and local dignitaries for the official unveiling of the new poppy sculptures in the award-winning community park.

The new feature was funded by monies raised by the youth panel during Oliver Atkinson’s year as youth mayor.

The Garstang Community Academy pupil picked the trust as his chosen cause raising more than £700.

Oliver said: "During my year as Mayor I enjoyed the many amazing events in our local town and beyond, we also organised several fundraisers with the aim of raising money for Kepple Lane Park

"Without the Youth Council I would of never been so involved in the park and I am so lucky to have such opportunities."

He now works with trust members as a youth liaison officer.

Trust members congratulated the youngsters on their fantastic efforts.

Current youth mayor Lucas Brown cut the ribbon alongside the Wyre and Preston North MP at the opening event.
