Garstang teacher arrested in sex pics probe

The teacher, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been suspended from Garstang Community Academy and the police investigation is ongoing.

The man was arrested on suspicion of several sexual offences including attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming and causing or inciting sexual activity with a girl.

He was also arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images or pseudo images.

A police spokesman said: “The man was arrested on August 4 but bailed pending further enquiries until November 5.”

Philip Birch, headteacher at Garstang Community Academy, said: “I can confirm that a member of staff has been suspended.

“We will not be commenting further at this time.”
