Garstang Men's Shed needs you - call for veterans to get involved in weekly group

The weekly catch up is open to all men.

Looking for social connection, company and camaraderie? Look no further.

Greater Garstang Men’s Shed meets every Tuesday morning from 10am to 12pm for a brew, a chat, and good company at the Methodist Hub in Park Hill Road (opposite The Wheatsheaf).

New members are always welcome, and the club would particularly like to hear from any veterans who may be interested in joining.

Members also have access to a workshop for a range of projects and activities. This week, Wyre Neighbourhood Policing Team Community Support Officer Nick attended a session to raise awareness of the impact that a missing person can have on their loved ones and families.

The meeting raised awareness of the Forcer Protocol, which can help families by encouraging people to create a simple plan that can significantly reduce distress should someone go missing, as well as the Herbert Protocol, named after George Herbert, a war veteran who lived with dementia and went missing several times. His experiences highlighted the need for a structured approach to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

If any veterans wouldlike to join, contact PCSO Nick on: [email protected]
