FUN RUN 2017: Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k full results
The annual 10K Fun Run for a children's hospice in Blackpool drew over 2,000 runners.
Yesterday’s event marked the 21st anniversary of Brian House Children’s Hospice, part of the Bispham-based Trinity Hospice.
Eager runners started off at the Savoy Hotel on Queen’s Promenade before dashing up to the Pleasure Beach and turning around to finish back at the hotel.
Linzi Young, of the children’s hospice, said: “It was brilliant.
“We had 2,080 runners taking part of all abilities – from the very experienced club runners to those in fancy dress and lots of people doing a 10k for the first time.
“The fastest runner, Mike Toft, did it in 35 minutes and 54 seconds.
“It was really sunny from quite early on. We got glorious weather and there was a fantastic atmosphere. It felt like a mini-London Marathon.
“The money is still coming in but so far we have £50,000.”
The Fun Run was again sponsored by Beaverbrooks jewellery store in Blackpool and all the funds raised go directly to the hospice.
At least 50 Beaverbrooks staff members voluntered to help out on the day and 125 other employees completed 10k runs around the country in support of the fundraiser.
