Full steam ahead

Families are encouraged to get ready as the biggest steam fair in the North West hits town.

The annual Scorton Steam will take place at Woodacre Lodge Farm on Saturday and Sunday June 18 and 19.Organisers have announced world record holding Broke FMX as its main arena attraction, as they perform hair-raising aerial stunts.Their antics will be supported by the usual favourites including a display of steam engines and exhibition of more than 600 vintage vehicles, the lawn mower grand prix, a fun fair, quad bikes and bungee trampolines. There will also be a craft marquee, food hall and beer tent. On Saturday night, Lancaster-based indie folk band The Woodsmen will be performing.Throughout the weekend, Scorton Steam will also support the district branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, its chosen charity for 2016.Craig Whittingham, who organises the event with his dad, Paul, said: “Scorton Steam is very popular. We have a great team who help out each year. This year we have even more steam engines. They are a part of our history and it is great to see them in one space. We also can’t wait to watch the death-defying stunts by Broke FMX. This is a great family day out.”Entry to Scorton Steam is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Children under 10 years are free.
