Flood appeal reaches more than £580,000

An appeal to help support flood-hit communities has raised more than £580,000 since it was launched last month.

The number of charitable grants distributed by Community Foundation for Lancashire’s Flood Recovery Appeal reached £260,000, benefiting 2,681 people across the county.

The Community Foundation is continuing to help people during phase one of the flood appeal, supporting with the costs of the clean up, emergency repairs and vulnerable families in hardship.

Community Foundation for Lancashire’s chief executive, Cathy Elliott, asked people affected by flooding to contact the organisation and said: “The money is there to help people in need across the county and we would like to reach as many people as possible.”
