Flash floods hit county

Parts of Lancashire were hit by flash flooding overnight as heavy rain battered the county.

River levels were forecast to rise until about midday today.

Alerts were issued for low-lying land near the Rivers Wyre, Douglas, Ribble and Yarrow.

Pools of water created hazards in many areas, including Greaves Town Lane, Lea, Preston, which suffered some flooding.

A fire crew was called out this morning to ​Lancaster Road, Cabus, near Garstang, ​after flooding affect​ed farm property.

Two crews from Lancaster and a crew from Garstang ​were in attendance and firefighters were pumping out the water.

Police were called to attend to deal with traffic congestion on the nearby A6 arising out of the incident response.
