Firefighters tackle major fire at Manchester college

Firefighters were called to a huge blaze at a Pendleton College in Manchester, which is believed to have started in a second-floor classroom

Five fire engines attended the scene in Dronfield Road following an emergency call at 10.05am today.

Students were evacuated and roads were closed while crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze.

Fire crews have since brought the fire under control.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
