Firefighters tackle another recycling centre blaze

Firefighters from across Lancashire have been working overnight to control the second major fire in as many nights.

The blaze happened at Clifton Marsh refill site on Preston New Road, with crews on the scene from 10pm. They remained there until the early hours of this morning.

JCB diggers filled with water was just one method firefighters used to break down the large wood stack fire.

It is the second recycling centre blaze this week after more than 100 firefighters from across the county attended a fire at Recycling Lives, off Longridge Road, Preston, on Thursday night.

It is unknown how the fire was started and an investigation into the cause will continue.
