Firefighters called to bedroom fire in Preston

Emergency services were called to a bedroom fire in Preston, say fire services.

Two engines from Preston attended the incident in Ruskin Street at around 9pm on 7 March.

Crew Manager Nick Birks said: "We arrived to the incident to find the fire had already been put out. We used ventilation units to clear the house of smoke.

"The bedroom was damaged by the fire but thankfully, nobody was injured in this incident.

"Unfortunately, the occupants of this home did not have any smoke alarms fitted, which may have alerted them to the fire earlier. We would like to remind the public to ensure that they have working smoke alarms."
