Fire crews tackle high-rise fire in Preston

Preston fire crews rushed to a kitchen fire inside a high-rise flat in Moor Lane yesterday (Monday, January 4).

Five fire engines and the aerial ladder platform responded to the emergency call-out at the 10-storey IQ Kopa student accommodation block at 12.04pm.

Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and a hose reel entered the flat to extinguish the fire, with assistance from the aerial ladder platform.

No injuries have been reported.

A fire service spokesman said: "At 12.04pm, five fire engines from Preston, Penwortham, Fulwood and Bamber Bridge rushed to the an incident on Moor Lane, Preston.

"The fire involved the kitchen of a high-rise domestic property.

"Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and the aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire. Crews were detained for one hour."
