Fire crews report '˜busy' Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night went off without any major incidents across Lancashire, although crews said they had been 'kept busy' with call-outs.

In Preston firefighters dealt with more than a dozen incidents, although only two of them were bonfire-related.

“It’s been a busy night,” said a spokesman today. “We were into double figures for call-outs.

“But not many were to bonfires, only a couple. The rest were all sorts of calls, like rubbish fires and helping the ambulance service gain access to a property where an old man had fallen.

“Thankfully there were no serious incidents.”

In Lancaster firefighters also reported a busy night.

A fire brigade spokesman there said: “We were out quite a few times, but not to anything major. Just a number of small fires in the open.”
