It started near Windmill Animal Farm on Fish Lane, Burscough with thick black smoke rising into the air.

An eyewitness told the Post: “The farming community are all getting togetherand trying to get it under control - can see the smoke for miles.

“Luckily no one is injured.”

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 12:56 on the 10th July 2026, three fire engines from Ormskirk and Tarleton along with the water bowser from Leyland attended a fire in the open on Wholesome Lane, Holmeswood, Ormskirk.

“The fire involved a vehicle and approximately 100mx200m of land. Firefigthters used three hose reel jet, a light portable pump and beaters to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance.”
