Erin rises up to the challenge ahead of Miss Preston final

A talented dancer vying to be the next Junior Miss Preston has stepped up to her charity challenge ahead of this weekend's final.

Erin Sugden, from Fulwood, opened her home to welcome family and friends for a fun-filled coffee morning event in a bid to raise more than £350 for the Variety children’s charity.

Around 70 people attended the fun day, which included a bouncy castle, cake sale and a bumper prize raffle to support her fundraising efforts.

The 13-year-old Our Lady’s Catholic High School pupil had given up time between her school and dancing commitments to make the event a success; even taking part in a dance competition the morning of the fundraiser.

A host of local businesses had donated prizes to help Erin reach her target and her total fundraising achievements will be revealed at the 
Junior Miss Preston final at Preston’s Playhouse Theatre on Sunday April 17.

Erin said she had enjoyed the day and was ‘looking forward to doing well’ in the competition.

Erin’s mum Paula said dad Neil, her two younger sisters Poppy and Amelia and a number of family members will be there to support her on the day.

She added: “I’m so proud of Erin, she’s worked so hard to make this event a success, sacrificing her time to sell raffle tickets, chasing businesses (and not taking no for an answer!) and helping with baking cakes.

“She was up at 6am on the morning as she was competing at a dance competition in Liverpool with her dance team Raq-n-Ruin, knowing she needed to be home for midday to make sure the charity event was a success.”

The fun-day included a bouncy castle provided by Top Bounce and a raffle with hundreds of pounds worth of prizes, donated by businesses SEI Electrical, YESSS electrical, meal vouchers from the Black Bull in Fulwood, goods from Aldi at Deepdale, beauty prizes from JCK beauty and Pretty Woman at Lane Ends as well gym passes for Virgin Active and Total Fitness and play passes for Rascal’s, Walton-le-Dale, family photo session from Barrett and Coe a print by Julie Tillet photography.
