‘The devastation is absolutely incredible’: Volunteers clean up mess left behind by travellers in Preston's Ashton Park

Residents living near Ashton Park banded together to clean up the mess left behind by a group of travellers.

A group of travellers set up camp in Ashton Park on Friday (July 1), just one day after another group left the area on Thursday (June 30).

Residents had just finished cleaning up the area when the second encampment arrived, leaving many disheartened.

Following a seven day battle, Preston City Council were granted permission to remove the travellers on Wednesday (July 6), leaving them 24 hours to move.

On Thursday (July 7), residents and volunteers from the Friends of Ashton Park group arrived at the park once again to clean up the mess.
